Lyrics and other notes

This following snippet of a song was found  by a fan  minutes after the members of Luteface were seen leaving a diner in Auburn ON (Huron County) on 11th of August 1976. It is believed to be the writing of Pi, who always joined the band on the road. This lyrical excerpt  was written on a sodden napkin.

We have consulted various old time fans who witnessed Luteface perform the evening before (August 10th) and all reports indicate that things were not pleasant backstage when Luteface discovered  that their opening act "Front End Loader" had performed a yet to be released Luteface song and claimed it as their own.

At this event, Luteface hit the stage- after apparently hitting the opening act in the change rooms,  and the violence continued as the Lanarski twins destroyed their equipment at the end of the first set. Close friends and fans noticed that Calypso was especially quiet after this incident and never did  speak as much again. The rest of their tour that summer was cancelled due to the fact that the Lanarksis were incarcerated on assault charges. Apart from assaulting the opening act (all 11 of them), they also wrecked the change rooms, yanked the plumbing out of the shower stalls and set fire to the other's band's three tour vehicles, although they never were charged for that offence.

It was noted that  Benny McSporran's  grandfather was seen talking to the police afterwards and that later that summer the Pipeband of the Huron County Constabulary appeared at the Labour Day parade in Toronto with completely new uniforms.

and heard them squawk

"this is not your art "

but a mirror of my own mind's fart

                                                                                     Pi Valois(?)

A photo of Pi working on the words to a song. - a long distance shot blocked by foliage. This fan pic was captured in July 1977 during the " My Heart Lies North of Hogtown" tour. The exact location is believed to be one of the picnic tables behind SUPERBURGER in Primrose Ontario.

Note the Scuba Face mask on the table...perhaps necessary protective gear when touring with Oort and Venlo.

This next excerpt is thought to be from a piece Luteface was working on for the never released Centennial  album. Apparently many of  Pi's lyric books found their way into the hands of fans and in some strange ways their unreleased (and unheard material) is still influencing later groups - case in point: Dulcimerhead's 2009 offering  "Dark Mandala"  Hmmmm.

When the dark mandala manifests

Hidden becomes as if light

And darkness in purple hue

In reality is born anew”
